Civil Engineering is the oldest branch of engineering which is growing right from the stone age of civilization. American society of civil engineering defines civil engineering as the profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and physical sciences gained by study, experience and practice is applied with judgment to develop ways to utilize economically the materials and forces of the nature for the progressive well being of man. Due to increase in the scope of civil engineering with the passage of time, it has now got diversified into many branches of study. Some of the significant ones include structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, hydraulic engineering, environmental engineering and a few more important areas of study. Civil engineers are also responsible for building good transportation systems for flow of water, i.e. the water distribution systems. The main activities in this undertaking are designing pipelines for flow of water, drainage facilities, canals, dams, etc. Dams are a major source for non-conventional source of electricity and are hence in high demand today. While designing these structures, the civil engineers take into account the various properties of fluids to calculate the forces acting at different points. The Department offer following program:

Electrical Engineering is a core branch of engineering which is always recognized as an ever-green branch. We cannot even dream of living without use of electricity in various forms. Enrichment of quality of life is never possible without application of electricity. The Electrical Engineering course covers the necessary input required in theoretical and practical terms to learn about the flow of electrons; operation of AC and DC motors; dealing with high voltage transmission and distribution of power; operation of electric machines, generators, transformers; safety and control of electric gadgets etc. The laboratory of Electrical Engineering department at GNPC are well equipped with motors of different types, tools for measurement of voltage, resistance etc. and various other instruments for conducting experiments so that the students can learn about practical applications.
Diploma in Electrical Engineering is designed to prepare students for responsible engineering positions in design, development, research, applications and operation in the fields of control systems, electromagnetism, power electronics & drives, high voltage, communication, electrical machines and power systems. The Department imparts training with the best of teaching expertise in fields of Electrical Machines, Power Electronics & Drives, Process Control & Instrumentation and Applied Electronics supported by excellent laboratory infrastructure and exposure to recent trends in the industry, to ensure that the students are molded into competent electrical engineers and worthy citizens of the country. Today, electrical engineers are much in demand due to the rising demand for electrical energy, the growth of audio and visual communication systems and automation in the industry. Most manufacturing and production industries make use of electricity and electrical machines. Qualified electrical engineers are needed by such industries to take care of tasks like power transmission, power usage, power auditing, machine monitoring, machine maintenance. Power production and transmission firms are also known to recruit electrical engineers. Construction companies hire electrical engineers to take care of wiring as well as electrical. works. Government job opportunities are also available in front of electrical engineers. Central and State Government setups like Indian Railways, State Electricity Boards, ONGC, OIL, DRDO, Indian Armed Forces, PWD, Municipal Corporations are known to hire electrical engineers.
